Visualising whole-slide images, annotations and RoIS
Whole-slide images are stored in the Aperio .svs file format as multi-resolution pyramid structures. For some WSIs, a file in the .qpdata file format having the same filename of the WSI is provided for viewing the annotations inside the WSI. The RoIs images are provided in .png file format.
For visualizing the slides and viewing the annotations, we strongly recommend to use the QuPath that is an open software platform for whole slide image.
Other different libraries and open source platforms can be used to read the WSIs, some of these are:
- OpenSlide (https://openslide.org/) is a C library that provides a simple interface to read WSIs of different formats.
- ASAP (https://github.com/computationalpathologygroup/ASAP ) is an open source platform for visualizing, annotating and automatically analyzing whole-slide histopathology images.
The RoI images can be visualized using standard image tools.
